it is the wish and desire of citizens to have unrestrained access to their elected office

holders. Democracy is Government of the people, for the people and by the people.

when office holders distant themselves from the people who elected them, the

above definition becomes a mirage and a distortion of the near perfect pictures or

illusions created by these same people during campaigns and manifestoes.

It is therefore important that citizens understand campaign promises, what to expect

and how document these promises in other to promote good governance and

sustain the dividends of democracy.

The documentation of these promises on the other hand helps to monitor and track

the progress of elected officials and representatives. The documentation process

also serves as a watchdog in checking budget implementation and spending.

This compendium is a force on the plough in ensuring that we meet up with the

anti-corruption and accountability efforts of the MacArthur and Yar’Ardua

foundation’s project.
