INTRODUCTION: Alliances for Africa (AfA) in collaboration with MacArthur Foundation had a two day community outreach event in Enugu North LGA and Nkanu west LGA respectively. This is in line with Yar’Adua Foundation with support from the MacArthur Foundation on an anti-corruption advocacy initiative to deepen and sustain transparency and accountability in Nigeria. The outreach event will cover 12 LGAs, but had just kicked off with 2 LGAs in the quarter 4 of 2018.
The community outreach event participants had representatives from different groups including, farmers, media, CSOs, disabled persons, market women, religious leaders, students, traditional rulers, okada riders, traders amongst others.
OBJECTIVES:
⦁ To educate citizens at the grassroots level to demand for better services, transparency and accountability from current and aspiring political office holders.
⦁ To create and support a community of practice on transparency and accountability at the community and state level.
⦁ To enlighten and empower the citizens to monitor document and report cases of corruption in their community in Ebonyi state.
