Report on Training and Town Hall meetings in Adamawa Central and Southern Senatorial Zone.

FREPORT ON TRAINING & TOWN HALL MEETINGS IN ADAMAWA CENTRAL AND SOUTHERN SENATORIAL ZONE.
From Monday 7th to Thursday 10th January 2019, the Centre for Women & Adolescent Empowerment Yola, carried out 2 Training and 2 Town Hall Meetings on the way to have a better participation in forthcoming elections and the urgent need for Transparency & Accountability as the catalyst for change. The major focus was on especially the Youth shunning political violence and effectively participating and supporting the process. Major participants at the Training were young people, while the Town Hall Meetings included all relevant stakeholders. The activities were held in the Southern & Central Senatorial Zones in Numan 7th &; 8th January and Yola Town 9th -10th January 2019. Royal fathers and leaders actively took part and advised on the issues. Topics discussed/presented included: explanations on Transparency and Accountability Project (TAP), Role of Election Observers on Election Day, Role of Media in stemming Hate Speech and its Dangers and example of wars caused by Hate Speech in some African Countries. Comments, Questions, and Answers were interactively discussed by participants. A drama and song specially produced for TAP was presented, which triggered discussions and contribution from the audience resulting in suggestions on how to do away with the ugly practise. The drama showed all the vices associated with elections in Nigeria i.e. political thuggery as a result of drug abuse, vote buying etc. INEC was present to explain and answer questions to do with the voting procedure and what to expect during election. Good will messages were received with promises of participation in the objectives of TAP. Invited guests included Traditional Leaders, INEC, Chairs and Candidates of Political Parties, Women and Youth leaders of traditional institutions, Hunters & Vigilantes, Inter Faith Organisations, Youth based organisations.    Download Full Report
